I just read a post by James Clear ‘Forget about Setting Goals’. I’m not sure I completely agree with this post. I think we do have to watch out we don’t get completely hijacked by our goals – we need to make sure they don’t make us feel impotent of ineffective. But it is important to have a dream, and goals can be a part of that.
But back to James Clear’s post. I thought this quote summed up some of what he is trying to say:
As far as writing goes, I think we should focus on the day-to-day progress we are making and the way we feel as we do the work (our experience of the journey), rather than the goal. It is vital to celebrate all that we have achieved rather than dwell on all that we haven’t.
